Details of the Compensation Program

Recently, the USDA admitted to discriminating against Black, Hispanic, Native American and Women farmers. They then created a $2.2 Billion compensation program for minority farmers who qualify for a compensation claim.

Historically the USDA rejected loans, blocked access to financial assistance programs and foreclosed on minority-owned farms at significantly higher rates than White-owned farms.

Many farmers are not aware they were discriminated against.

Forms of discrimination include:

  • Loan denial

  • Higher interest rates

  • Lower loan amount

  • Less favorable terms than other farmers in your area

  • Comments made by USDA agents

  • Frequent check ins & reporting requirements

  • Special funding requirements

  • Experienced worse treatment than other local farmers

Many farmers, ranchers, and hopeful agricultural businesses have no idea this program exists.
